The animated, short film by Kaz Cooke “Gorgeous” is part of the Teen Challenge In Focus program. This is our high school program which covers topics of Body Image, Addictive Behaviour, Sexual Choices, Family Matters, Face It and Go For It. I’ve run this program in local schools and it is always well received. I’ve found Kaz’s film online along with a whole website about Body Image. Quote from the site:

“completely Gorgeous”, the website, is an active, fun, and useful classroom resource for teachers and students from upper primary school to senior levels of secondary school. It includes the text and illustrations from Real Gorgeous the book; the animated 10 minute video Gorgeous; some further material (including links to other sites addressing the subject matter), and a series of games.

I’ve been asked to write a play for our ladies conference at church. The theme is Beautiful. I’ve taken the idea, from Kaz Cooke’s film, of hearing character’s inner voices contradicting what is reality. I want to portray how we actually view our bodies rather than what we say. I’m having fun writing it, I hope the women have fun acting it and watching it too.
