INTERNET goliath Google claims to rank search results by relevance but the search engine engages in deceptive conduct by selling off the top positions to commercial partners, a Sydney court has heard.
The Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC) is taking world-first legal action in the Federal Court against Google Inc over allegedly deceptive conduct related to sponsored links on its websites.

I think this is really silly. Most people that I’ve seen using Google soon realise that often the top results and those in the side bar on the right hand side of the screen are sponsored links. It says right there sponsored links and the box they’re in is a different colour.
In the computer classes I teach (for adults and teens) they realise what are paid for advertising links and what aren’t. Surely the ACCC has got other companies to worry about rather than Google.
