Freecycle-another avenue for re-using stuff

I’m part of an email list called Freecycle. Members post messages, detailing items they have to give away, to the list. This is from the website:

“The Adelaide Freecycle Network is open to all who want to “recycle” that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it’s a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or maybe you’re looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are also welcome to participate too!

One constraint: everything posted must be free. This network is brought to you by The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills.”

I love this. I hate to see good stuff go to waste filling dumps! I’m dangerous at garage sales and auctions. I think I get this from my Dad. Mum hated it whenever Dad went to a clearing sale, when we were kids, but it was worse when he took the trailer!

We run a great 2nd hand clothes shop at Teen Challenge too – it provides a service to the community in good quality second hand clothes, household goods, linen etc and it’s keeping stuff out of landfill too. 🙂
